I absolutely love the powerful and inspiring story Michelle Wagner shared with me about her and her son, Mickey. His parents adopted him from an orphanage in Russia. Once he arrived in the US, they found out that he was deaf. He was implanted with Bilateral Cochlear implants at age 3 at UCSF. As a single, working mother, Michelle has dedicated her life to his schooling, speech and progress. He is now thriving at age 11 in school, soccer and tennis and is such a sweet compassionate young boy. He is extremely empathetic and very caring and hopes to be a police officer in their town. Michelle cannot imagine her life without him and believes that they were destined to be together.
I wanted to portray and honor his roots as well as the path his life has taken him and the strong bonding between mother and son.
Michelle, thank you for such inspirational story! I hope you will continue to find many years of happiness.
